WOOW!!
Woo opens with "Where the Rising Sun Will Stain," the song that received the most votes from Oslopuls readers. Guitarist Geir Satre starts with some gentle strumming from prog-land before the band kicks in. Hard and precise rock, playful ubiquitous guitar, super steady drumming from Geir Arne Ose, and skillful, exploratory bass from Audun Havåg. A killer track!

"One Way" is the next song. A rocker that showcases what a powerhouse Woo is. Vocalist Stig Sandbakk picks up a rhythm guitar, and together the band elevates the mood even further among the few who had gathered in front of the Oslopuls stage.

Without further introduction, Woo kicks off the third song. The opening is pounding, slow, and very cool. In true prog fashion, it gives way to calmer vocal parts accompanied by Sætre's plaintive minaret-guitar. The song builds further, Sandbakk lets loose, the band cranks it up, and it all ends with some delightful dissonances and a touch of white guitar noise from Sætre. Hey!, it?s perfect!

Woo jumps right into the next song, no point in talking away twenty valuable minutes. Hard and funky, not unlike Primus, for example. Sætre's constant guitar gymnastics are balanced by more laid-back vocal parts. Again, an impressively steady rhythm section. It all concludes with a longer instrumental section where Woo again proves how skilled and cohesive they are.
Then, it's over. How sad. Did we mention we were impressed?

Stings hitkavalkade
Sting var helt klart hovedattraksjonen under Norwegian Wood i år. Frognerbadet var smekkfullt når sjefen entret scenen.

Sting åpnet med "If You Love Somebody - Set Them Free". Og så kom hitsene som perler på en snor: Police-låtene "Message In A Bottle", "Roxanne" og "Every Breath You Take", selvsagt "An Englishman In New York" og "If I Ever Loose My Faith In You" for å nevne noen.
